The city’s architecture whispers tales of bygone eras, while its art and literature shout their brilliance from every corner. Colonial walls and heritage buildings stand as living witnesses to the British legacy that lingers here. But Kolkata isn’t just about history—it’s a symphony of culture and warmth. Known as the “City of Joy,” it embraces visitors with open arms, much like the Bengalis who call it home. From the iconic Tant sarees to the melt-in-your-mouth Rosogollas, Kolkata tantalizes your senses. And when Durga Puja arrives, the city erupts in a riot of colors and festivities.Hop on our 2 Nights / 3 Days Calcutta sightseeing tour package, and let Kolkata’s soulful music, fine arts, delectable food, and captivating literature sweep you off your feet. Uncover the hidden gems, savor the flavors, and dance to the rhythm of this unique city—it’s an invitation you won’t want to miss!Upon arriving at Howrah railway station, our representative will pick you and then take you at your pre-booked hotel. After check-in take a short break to freshen-up and get ready for the sightseeing of the day. The places we visit on this Day 1 of the sightseeing trip are: Victoria Memorial, Birla Planetarium, Fort William, Howrah Bridge, Writer’s Building and Shaheed Minar. We begin our city tour with Victoria Memorial; a white marble museum built in the year 1921 in honor of Queen Victoria. The museum stands amid a lush green landscaped garden sprawling across an area of more than 57 acres and showcases marvelous architecture and a vast array of artifacts, paintings, manuscripts, lithographs, stamps, sculptures etc. dating back to British era. Next, we visit the Birla Planetarium. This is a stupa-shaped planetarium set up in the year 1963 by Jawaharlal Nehru.
The planetarium presents amazing sky shows to generate awareness about the science of astronomy. After Planetarium, we visit Fort William, a magnificent monument of historic importance built in the year 1781. Fort William comes with an impressive Colonial architecture and had been a witness to a multitude of historic battles associated with India’s struggle for freedom. Today it serves as the Eastern Zone Army Command’s Headquarters. After Fort William we proceed to visit the Howrah Bridge; an iconic landmark of the city of Kolkata. This robust bridge, also referred to as the ‘Harbor Bridge of India’ is one of the busiest cantilever bridges in the whole of the country. It is built across River Hooghly and connects the two most significant cities, that of Kolkata & Howrah.
You could get the most mesmerizing views of the bridge from the midst of the Hooghly River. Next, we move towards Writer’s Building, another very significant landmark of historic importance. The building comes with an amazing Greco-Roman architecture that reminds one of the colonial eras. This building that had served as the servants’ quarter during the British period now serves as West Bengal Government’s Secretariat building. Lastly we visit the Shaheed Minar. This pristine white towering monument rising to a height of 158 ft has been dedicated to the martyrs who lost their lives fighting for freedom against the Britishers. After the sightseeing we will return to hotel.
Next day post breakfast we set out for the remaining part of the Calcutta sightseeing trip and visit places like National Library and Nicco Park. Post sightseeing we return to hotel for lunch and rest. First of all we visit the National Library; one of the prestigious and iconic landmarks in the city of Kolkata. It is the largest among all other libraries that our country has and boasts of having a vast and rare collection of books. Next, we visit Nicco Park; a renowned amusement park of Eastern India, also known as ‘Disney Land of West Bengal’.
It comes with a vast array of enjoyable rides that keep you thoroughly entertained. In the evening we set out on a shopping spree visiting places like New Market and Barabazar. Both New Market and Barabazar are absolute paradises for the shopaholics with a vast array of shops & stalls selling almost anything under the sun. After shopping to our heart’s fill in two of the most renowned markets of the city, it’s time to return to hotel, have dinner and stay at night.
Post breakfast, we check out of hotel and proceed to visit the last of our sightseeing destinations; The Marble Palace. The Marble Palace is a luxurious mansion built in 1835 by a wealthy merchant known by the name of Raja Rajendra Mullick Bahadur. The mansion is one of the most well preserved 19th-century mansions made in marble with intricately adorned walls as well as pillars. After the Palace visit you’ll be dropped at Howrah station where our representative bids you good bye as you proceed for your onward journey back home with lots of amazing memories of the trip.
