Chandrashila, the summit above Tungnath temple of Panch Kedar, literally means “Moon Rock” and is located at a height of approximately (12,110 ft) above sea level. The majestic Chandrashila summit provides a heavenly panorama of the Great Himalayas, including Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch, and Chaukhamba peaks.

The Chandrashila treks are among the most popular among Indian trekkers. The trek to the peak is 5 kilometres long, beginning in Chopta and ending in Tungnath, after which it is a kilometre long, steep trek to the Chandrashila summit. This moderate to difficult level trek is popular among devotees and is rich in flora and fauna.
